Guangdong province is where most of this happens. We are based in Guangzhou but we spend a lot of time on the road. Dongguan for electronics and mouldmaking, Foshan for ceramics and aluminum, Shenzhen for anything with circuit boards or consumer tech. Each industrial cluster has its own character. Shunde is where you go for furniture. Tens of thousands of workshops crammed into a single district, from high-end solid wood exporters to shops making flat-pack MDF for the domestic market.

For textiles and garments, the Zhongda fabric market near Sun Yat-sen University is the beating heart. Seven or eight city blocks of fabric, zippers, buttons, linings. Electronics is Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen, a multi-story ecosystem of components, PCBs, finished goods, and the engineers who build them.
